Developer 216 Technology came up with the Touch Jams application to turn a touch screen device into a digital jukebox that plays all your music. Just because it’s meant to be used on touch screens, it doesn’t mean Touch Jams doesn’t work just as well on regular PCs. It does, so use this application to play your collection of music and, if you’re in the mood for it, listen to some radio – Touch Jams also provides easy access to online radio stations.

Setting up Touch Jams on your machine will take little time. The first step is to download a 9.5MB archive onto your PC, step 2 is to extract its contents, step 3 is to run the executable, and step 4 is to follow the instructions presented by the setup wizard. When you’re done with the installation process and you launch Touch Jams for the first time, a Getting Started wizard will guide you through the initial setup process (you’ll have to point Touch Jams to the place where your collection of music is stored).

As mentioned above, Touch Jams is meant for touch devices, and the application’s interface certainly reflects that. There are nice big buttons all around that you can easily tap on – or click on if you installed Touch Jams on a regular PC. By default, the application displays album covers in the interface. Tap on an album and you will see a list of tracks from said album. Select a track and you can start playing it. The buttons for adjusting the volume, skipping to the next track and stopping the playback are at the bottom.

Hit the “Now playing” button form the left hand side and Touch Jams shows you what track is currently playing, how much time has passed since the start of the playback, and what track will come up next. Touch Jams doesn’t play music tracks alone, it can also play video files (requires the K-Lite Code Pack) and it can play online radio (you will find several radio stations by hitting the Radio button from the upper right hand corner). On top of that, Touch Jams also provides support for Karaoke CDG files.

You have a limited amount of time and a limited number of uses to try Touch Jams for free. The trial version is limited to 100 uses and 10 days.

Equally at home on a touch screen device or a regular PC, Touch Jams turns your machine into a jukebox that’s fun and easy to use.

Pros

Getting Started guide that takes you through the initial setup process. Plays music tracks and videos, displays online radio stations, provides support for Karaoke files. Can be controlled remotely. Customize how the application looks by choosing one of several themes. Numerous settings to play with.

Cons

Use Touch Jams for free for a trial period of 10 days (the trial is also limited to 100 uses).
